Pirates double Elks

PORT HAWKESBURY - James Shapeligh's two goals and an assist weren't enough for the Brookfield Elks to secure a win over the Strait Pirates in Nova Scotia Jr. B Hockey on Friday.

Straight doubled Brookfield, 6-3.

Shapeligh scored both goals in the first period - one unassisted on a powerplay - to tie the game going into the second.

Zachary Coates added Brookfield's third goal of the game in the final period.

The loss is the fourth of the season for the Elks, who sit at the bottom of the Fred Fox Division.

They're hoping for their second win of the season when they host the Glace Bay Jr. Miners Saturday night at the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex. The game starts at 7:30.
