TRURO -The CEC Cougars were thumped 40-8 by the Citadel Phoenix in Nova Scotia High School Football League action here on Sunday.

The result marked the Cougars sixth consecutive setback to the Phoenix in Turkey Bowl matchups and dropped their record for the season to 1-2. Citadel improve to 3-0.

Kyle Scott, on a 50-yard reception, managed the lone touchdown for Cobequid, who trailed 30-6 at halftime in front of an estimated 1,000 fans at James Macpherson Stadium. The other two points resulted from a safety touch late in the fourth quarter.

"Defensively we played much better in the second half," said CEC coach Scott Annand.
