Tide Blanked at Home

Truro Tide 0 - Dartmouth Destroyers 28

The Truro Tide put up stiff competition against the highest scoring team in the NS Minor Football Atom Division, but in the end turnovers and short field scoring chances cost the Tide the game. Dartmouth possesses a potent ground attack and capitalized on the short field scoring twice late in the game, putting it out of reach.  The Defense played very well overall holding the Destroyers to their lowest point total of the season and looks forward to turning their season around at home again next Sunday, October 7 at 10 a.m. at the TAAC grounds.

Bombers Lose 25-14

Truro Blue Bombers 14 - Dartmouth Destroyers 25

The Truro Blue Bombers had their chances to beat the Dartmouth Destroyers and keep their winning streak alive, but 5 turnovers  and sloppy tackling directly led to Dartmouth's lead.  The bombers led 14-13 at the half and looked like they were in control, but despite the strong defensive play, were undone by long broken plays that led to Touchdowns.  Riley Carmichael continues to impress as he took yet another kickoff all the way back for a score, and made several Big plays on Defense as well.  Other notable defensive play was turned in by Lorne MacLean, and Ethan DeVouge.  The Bombers continue their Home-stand Friday night Oct.5 @ 6;30 pm under the lights as they play host to the  Timberlea Titans.

Freights Get First Win

Truro Freightliners 20- Cape Breton Panthers 8

As the rain poured down Saturday Afternoon, it looked like the Truro Freightliners were headed for another loss. Trailing 8-6 with just under two minutes to go in the game something clicked.  All the little improvements that were visible each week this season came together as the seconds ticked down. One visible improvement came from the ground game, as Tyran Desmond led the charge with two very successful end around sweeps keeping the last second drive alive and scoring the go ahead Touchdown with one minute to go.  Cape Breton had one last chance to tie the game, but the Defense held strong as Tyler Ball  deflected  a pass and then Desmond picked off the desperation pass and returned it for a touchdown sealing the win for the Freightliners.  The Freightliners look to continue the improvements as they face a tough Timberlea Titans squad at the TAAC grounds Friday night ,October 5 at 8:30 pm.
