Bearcat-of-the-week honours go to first-year forward Jordan Coccimiglio.
In road wins last week he registered two goals, the most significant being an unassisted OT winner in the 3-2 victory in Woodstock. Goals don't come bigger than that.
He got his hockey start in the Burlington Eagles association. He worked his way up to the minor midget level, where he drew the attention of OHL teams and the Erie Otters selected him in the 2009 draft.
During the 2009-10 season, he suited up with the Otters for 67 games, then another 31 games the following season before being traded to the Barrie Colts. Last year, he picked up 12 goals and 21 helpers as a member of the Oakville Blades (OJHL).
He's best described as a thorough two-way player who can capitalize on any given situation. Taking regular shifts with Travis Fernley and newcomer, Mike Richard, he is a highly regarded penalty-killer. Playing smart in all three zones and driving hard to the net are key ingredients of his contribution to the Bearcats. He's clearly adjusted quickly to the competitiveness of the Maritime circuit.
