TRURO - The Truro Tide lost its Touchdown50 Celebration opener 12-6 to the Bedford Saints in Truro on Saturday.
Truro's defense came to play, forcing several turnovers and keeping the Bedford Saints on their heels for most of the game. An interception by Matthew Coulter set up the Tide's first Score with an Owen Sellers 35 yd TD run allowing the team to take a 6-0 lead into the locker room at half time.
Bedford scored quickly to open the second half tying the game.
The weather changed as much as the possession of the football and the mud slowed the game down considerably. A defensive stuggle ensued and it looked like the game would end in a tie until Bedford scored with less than 1:30 to play sealing the win 12-6. The Tide will look to rebound next weekend when they play host to the Dartmouth Destroyers Black squad Saturday Sept.29th at the TAAC Grounds. Kick off is slated for 10 am.
