Coccimigilio nets OT winner as Bearcats win fourth straight

WOODSTOCK, N.B. – Jordan Coccimigilio scored at 3:38 of overtime to lift the Truro Bearcats to a 3-2 victory over the Woodstock Slammers Friday night in the Maritime Junior Hockey League.

Dylan McGuigan and Philip Fife also scored for the Bearcats, who remain perfect this season with a 4-0 record.

Danny Harquail and Jake Wright replied for the defending league champion Slammers.

Bearcats goaltender Shayne Campbell made 32 saves for the win, while Simon-Pier Chamberland of the Slammers faced 36 shots.

The Bearcats were 0-for-6 on the powerplay, while the Slammers went 0-for-5 with the man-power advantage.

At the end of the game, Truro’s Tyler Morrison received a major penalty for cross-checking and a game misconduct, while Woodstock’s Robbie DeFulvis received a match penalty for butt-ending.

Bearcats coach Shawn Evans was also handed a game misconduct.

The Bearcats return to action next Saturday for their home opener against the Campbellton Tigers (Colchester Legion Stadium, 7:30 p.m.).
