TRURO - The Cobequid Cougars high school boys volleyball team opens its 2012-13 season tomorrow by hosting the 10-team Cougar Classic.
The Harvey MacEachern-coached Cougars are grouped in the blue pool where they will take on the Charles P. Allen Cheetahs at 4 p.m. and Colonel Gray, P.E.I., at 6 p.m.
On Saturday, they complete round-robin play with matches against the Horton Griffins at 8:30 a.m. and West Kings at 11:45 a.m.
Orange pool teams include J. L. Ilsley, Sackville, Ecole Secondary du Sommet of Halifax, Avon View and Westisle.
Playoffs begin at 3:30 p.m. with the final set for 6 p.m.
This is the first of seven tournaments the Cougars will compete in before regional qualifying play begins on Nov. 13. Provincial qualifying action is set for Nov. 23-24 with the provincial championship to be decided on Nov. 30-Dec. 1 in the Western Region.
