The Truro Blue Bombers scored a decisive 38-6 victory over the Fall River Dragons to even their record (1-1) in the Nova Scotia Minor Football Association peewee division.
Riley Carmichael returned to the Bombers and made an immediate impact, as he contributed on several scoring drives.
The defense was aggressive and hard-hitting as it held the Dragons scoreless in the first half.
The Bombers return to the gridiron on Saturday when they host the Bedford Saints during Touchdown 50 celebrations at the TAAC Grounds. Kickoff is 3:30 p.m.
The Truro Tide suffered their first loss of the season, falling 30-20 to the Bedford/Sackville Saints #2 team.
The Tide (1-1) played well and coaches were proud of their effort throughout the game.
This year's team is well-organized and driven to play well and is expected to be in the thick of things at the end of the regular season.
The Tide host the Bedford/Sackville Saints #1 squad Saturday at the TAAC Grounds at 1 p.m.
The Truro Freightliners were no match for last year's provincial runners-up, as they lost 32-0 to the Fall River Dragons.
The Dragons moved the ball at will on offense, and spent much of the game in the Freightliners' backfield on defense. The Freightliners only managed just four first downs during the game.
The Freightliners (0-2) look forward to turning things around at home this weekend when they host the Bedford Saints at the TAAC Grounds at 6 p.m.
