DARTMOUTH - The Truro Bearcats were on the wrong end of an 11-1 thrashing from the Dartmouth Dry Thursday in their Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League tilt at Beazley Field.
The setback drops the last-place Bearcats to 4-15, 11 games behind the pace-setting Kentville Wildcats (16-5). Dartmouth (13-8) lies second on the five-team circuit.
The game was ended after the top of the seventh due to the 10-run mercy rule. Former Bearcat Jason Smith went the distance for Dartmouth to collect the win while Darren Doucette launched a pair of two-run home runs.
Tony Stewart was tagged with the loss after Terry Seeton and Jason Blois came on in the third and fifth innings in relief. Joe MacPherson led the Hubtown offence with a pair of singles while J.P. Wood smashed a double.
