TRURO - The Truro Bearcats cleared a major hurdle when they defeated Dartmouth Moosehead Dry 10-4 in a Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League contest Tuesday at the TAAC Grounds.
Left-hander Brandon Malally tossed the victory for the Bearcats (4-13), who had lost 10 consecutive games to Dartmouth (9-8) over the past two seasons.
Malally allowed just one run before giving way to relief pitcher Dan Bates in the sixth inning.
Adam Lombard and Josh Fushtey notched three singles apiece for Truro. Troy Fisher and J.P. Wood each had two hits.
The Bearcats return to action tonight when they host the defending champion Halifax Canadians at 7:30 p.m. at the TAAC Grounds.
The second-place Canadians were 9-7 prior to facing the league-leading Kentville Wildcats (15-4) Wednesday.
