Legge leads local players at junior boys golf championship

NEW GLASGOW - Truro's Keith Legge leads a contingent of Colchester County players at the Nova Scotia junior boys golf championship.

Legge carded an opening round 9-over-par 80 on Monday at the 6,052-yard, par-71 layout at Abercrombie Golf and Country Club.

Legge is tied for 16th place.

Brightwood's Matt Gallupe leads the 72-hole championship after shooting 1-under 70, while Ryan Nowe of Osprey Ridge posted 72 and sits in second.

Other Truro Golf Club members in the field include Brock Dewar (82), Evan Starratt (84), Andrew Murphy (86) and Matthew Fultz (87). Brookfield's Cody Locke shot 83 and Debert's Devin Atkinson had 94.

Meanwhile, Julie Henderson of Abercrombie opened with a 4-over-par 77 to lead the provincial girls tournament.

Bernadette Little, also of the host club, is three shots back in the five-player field.
