TRURO - Jessica Bartlett of the Truro Lions set a new provincial mark in the youth javelin event on Saturday at the Jump Start Athletics Throws Series in Port Williams, King's County.
Bartlett's throw of 39.51m was her farthest of two record-breaking efforts at the meet.
Three other Lions competitors also had personal-best performances in the javelin - Riley MacEachern, midget female, (31.88m); Byron Wood, bantam male (35.76m) and Iain LaPointE, senior men's javelin (46.41m)
In the points series, Truro's Drew Erskine continues to hold first place (2,627) over clubmate Peter Millman (2,518).
Erskine's midget shot-put result of 15.83m puts him seven centimetres off the provincial record established by Chris Smith in 1985. Erskine currently holds the Nova Scotia record in discus and hammer.
Truro's Andrew Gibson turned in personal bests in midget hammer (44.36m) and discus (39.35m), finishing third in each event.
Riley Jennings also posted personal bests in midget shot-put (11.28m) and hammer (25.50m), while Jessie Colborne's 34.42m throw in midget female hammer was also a personal best performance.
