Bearcats come up just short to Dry in senior baseball

TRURO - The Truro Bearcats came close but missed out on their third win of the Nova Scotia Senior Baseball league season Tuesday in a 6-5 loss to the Dartmouth Dry.

The setback drops the last-place Bearcats to 2-10, eight games behind the league-leading Kentville Wildcats. Dartmouth improves to 9-4.

Tony Stewart blasted a two-run home run and a single to lead the Bearcats while Joe macPherson pounded out three singles. Dan Bates cracked a double that knocked in two runs.

Josh Fushtey went eight innings for the loss and Brandon Malally pitched the ninth in relief.

Greg West led Dartmouth with a two-run home run and Jeff Reeves tossed the seventh to pick up the win.
