TRURO - Tyree Desmond had a memorable start to track and field competition recently at a Royal Canadian Legion meet in Moncton.

The 10-year-old member of the Central Nova Legion Legends won all four of his events - the 60m dash, shot put, long jump and 600m - to capture the tetrathlon title at the event.

His brother Tyren earned a silver medal in the triple jump and crossed the line seventh in the 100m in the under-15 division.

Jonathan James was sixth in the 400m and seventh in the 800m in the 16 and 17 age group.

The Legends are back in action June 29 at a Pictou County meet.
