TRURO - Truro native Chris Topshee is off to the Canadian Men's Mid-Amateur Golf Championship.
The member of Oakfield Golf Club punched his ticket to the event by defeating Brightwood's Steven Spicer in a one-hole playoff Sunday at the Nova Scotia Mid-Amateur Championship at Berwick Heights Golf Course.
Both golfers finished the 36-hole event at even par (144).
The national championship will be held Sept. 4 to 7 at Point Grey Golf and Country Club in Vancouver, B.C.
Aaron Nickerson of River Hills won the tournament at 2 under par while Ashburn's Glenn Robinson was a stroke behind in second.
Truro's Paul Coulson finished in a five-way tie for 19th at eight-over-par 152. Terry Clarke of Fox Hollow, Truro's Pat MacCormack and Debert's Peter Atkinson were all 13 over while Truro's John Archibald finished 15 over.
Steven Peters of Fox Hollow was 37 over and clubmate Steve Playter was 49 over.
