TRURO – Local fighters Cody Glode and Kyle White of Marmac Athletics acquitted themselves well at the recent Toronto PRO Super Show.
Glode posted a 1-1 record in the mixed martial arts intermediate 16 to 18 Tatami sport division.
The 16-year-old defeated Jacee McCartney, submitting his Ontario counterpart in the first and second rounds of the three-round fight. In his second fight, Glode lost two rounds to Toronto’s Sam Efford.
“He handled both of them very professionally, as far as the win and the loss,” said coach Micky Marshall.
White, meanwhile, defeated Dave Duong of Ontario via unanimous decision in a low kick intermediate kickboxing match.
“It was a very one-sided fight,” said Marshall.
Marshall credited both local fighters for the way they conducted themselves and represented the club.
He said when unexpected schedule and weight class changes could have led to frustration, Glode and White remained calm and stayed focused on the task.
“These young men, it didn’t faze them one bit,” Marshall said. “That was the proudest thing of the weekend, how they handled the changes.”
