TRURO – It wasn’t the home opener the Truro Bearcats had been hoping for.
The Bearcats scratched out just three hits in an 11-0 loss to the defending Nova Scotia Senior Baseball League champion Halifax Canadians Tuesday at the TAAC Grounds.
Adam Lombard, Scott Baillie and Troy Fisher did the hitting for Truro while rookie Sean Harvie was hung with the loss. Tony Stewart and Jason Blois came on in relief in a contest that went seven innings.
Former Bearcats pitcher Craig Field came back to haunt his old squad by going the distance and picking up the win for Halifax.
Mark Pelham led the offence with a pair of singles and a double.
