Colchester players help Nova Scotia to wins at bantam nationals

TRURO - Nova Scotia posted a 2-4 record and bowed out early from the 2010 Canadian Bantam Baseball Championship in Vaughan, Ont., on the weekend.

Truro natives Matt Mingo and Lucas Gulliver were members of the team.

The Bluenosers finished the tournament with a 3-2 loss to Alberta after nipping Manitoba 7-6 and falling 7-3 to Saskatchewan. Nova Scotia also lost to B.C. 11-7 and 14-1 to Ontario after opening with a 9-3 win over Newfoundland.

The hosts won gold by beating Saskatchewan in the final.

Mingo finished tied for sixth in batting average at .500 and his homerun put him second on that list, tied with three others.
