This picture just had to be included in this package. Truro Bearcats forward Phil Fife screaming while lifting the Fred Page Cup in May after scoring the double overtime winner is what the Bearcats worked all season for and that emotion is definitely captured here. One of the best pure emotion shots I’ve ever captured.

This is a shot of Colchester County’s participants in the Neil ‘Chops’ Campbell Young Guns Driver’s Challenge at Truro Raceway during Atlantic Grand Circuit Week. I like the depth of this shot along with the great colours on the suits of Ben Hollingsworth, Paul Langille and Mark Whidden.

The Truro Skate Park is a goldmine of great photos. What I like about this one of Daniel Patton is how the rail leads us right to his board as it grinds along, and how the action is frozen with his hands out to his sides. One of my favourites from the skate park.

This shot of Tyler MacDonald of the Dalhousie Rams stood out for me for a few reasons. The first is the expression on his face while the second is the way he’s straining to stop his body on a dime. I also like the fact that the Saint John Seawolves player is clearly taking a swipe for the ball. It adds up to one of the best basketball shots I’ve taken.

This is a neat shot of little Brennan Crowe having a blast with the top down in a Corvette piloted by his father Darren at Truro Raceway. Obviously the expression on his face is the first thing that jumps out at you and the angles of the windshield and the top of the door lead you right to him and his little tuxedo.

I was able to get a lot of shots I was very happy with during the Molson Men’s Tankard provincial curling championship at Truro Curling Club in February. But this one of Steve Burgess, who throws second stones for Mark Dacey, is my favourite. I just like the very low angle on the shot and how Burgess is so low to the ice as he lets the stone go.

This is another must have for this group. This shot of Jordan Pajak was taken during the Aquaneige at Ski Wentworth in April. Just look at that water fly as his board flips out from under him and the facial expression as he realizes he’s about to get very wet and very cold.

When I went to meet Valley-Kemptown firefighters back in September to see their new ladder truck, you could tell they were a proud bunch. I tried to capture that emotion with this low angle shot to emphasize this brave group of guys and the massive size of their new recruit.

This shot didn’t appear in the paper but was part of a photo gallery from Pleasant Valley Motocross in July. I just enjoy the angle of this shot, coupled with the fact Brookfield’s Tyler Medaglia is kicking up a huge rooster tail while just letting that front tire skim across the dirt.

I thought this shot of these three girls on the ferris wheel at the annual exhibition in Bible Hill captured the spirit of the event at its best. It’s about having a great time with friends and family, and this moment will be kept forever with a selfie photo on that cell phone.
