TRURO - About 200 Truro and Colchester County students were recently introduced to rugby and tennis with the support of many community partners. Two sessions, each welcoming about 100 Grade 4 students, were held at the Cougar Dome in Truro. Physical Education teachers at the participating schools will receive coaching plans and equipment to continue to offer the sports to their students. The initiative was funded by Sport Nova Scotia, $5,000; Department of Health and Wellness, $1,000; along with in-kind contributions from Rugby Nova Scotia and Tennis Nova Scotia; and supported by Truro Rugby Club, Truro tennis Club, the Cougar Dome and recreation departments in Bible Hill, Truro and Colchester County.
