TRURO - Every residence in Colchester County will soon have a composting bin, including full-time rural and seasonal residents.
Colchester County council unanimously voted on the expansion of the green composting bin program Thursday night. The initiative will see almost 6,000 new green bins distributed within the county.
The cost will be paid by way of a common compost flat rate estimate at $41.50 per residence for operational costs. All of the capital cost - estimated at $670,000 - will be funded from the municipality's capital reserve fund.
The project will be implemented next summer.
