TRURO - Scott Armstrong will carry the Conservative banner in Cumberland Colchester Musquodoboit Valley the next time residents go to the polls for a federal election.
The Truro educator was the only person to file nomination papers before Thursday's 5 p.m. deadline and was acclaimed by the Conservative riding association's directors.
Armstrong, 42, announced his intentions to seek the nomination on April 21.
The Progressive Conservative Association of Nova Scotia president has been a longtime Tory organizer, starting work on campaigns while still in elementary school.
Armstrong is principal of Truro Elementary School and will continue in that role until the writ is dropped.
The federal seat becomes vacant today with Bill Casey's resignation. It is not known when a byelection will be called. The federal government does not have to call one until the next general election.
