To the editor,
Thank you to the Truro Daily News for the great coverage of the 36th annual Model Train Show put on by the local Truro Model Railroaders Association on Oct. 19 at the Nova Scotia Community College, Truro campus.
Prior to the show, reporter Sherry Martell was very willing to learn about our hobby and met with members of the club to write interesting stories to help educate the readers and tell them about the show.
We thank the interested public who attended the show, with more than 600 people coming in to see the many interesting layouts, some that tell of Truro’s history. We appreciate your support and interest.
We are particularly encouraged by the attendance and participation of so many young people.
We are also encouraged by the follow-up coverage by Truro Daily News reporter Monique Chiasson.
We want to expand our relationship with our ‘railroad family,,’ namely the members of the families who worked on the railroads over the years. It seems natural that those who built and worked on the railroad are interested in what we do.
We worked hard on a new approach this year and will continue to expand that in the years to come. Everything turned out well and it was one of the best shows we have held.
Much of the credit goes to the Truro Daily News and their friendly staff. The insights gained into model railroading helps the members of the club continue with the hobby and we look forward to bringing the show to Truro again next year. Most of the proceeds from the show proudly go to charities.
Rod Norrie, on behalf of the Truro Model Railroaders Association members
