To the editor,
It’s now official. As of the end of this month, the Nova Scotia Community College Sport and Wellness Centre in Truro will close to community patrons and a valued link with the community disappears.
Last April, the closure was announced for the end of October (and several times since) but the pleas, protests, letter writing and petition to keep it open went unheard locally and provincially.
Over the months that followed many moved on to other fitness centres, and some stopped going to any facility. Those who remained to the end, perhaps hoping for a reprieve, must now make their choice.
It was a good run and while the fiends will be missed, the friendships will be lasting.
It’s time to face the facts, but surely the addition of new pieces of equipment could have been delayed until we got out the door.
