No such thing as “too” prepared

A tropical storm that held this region tightly in its grip during the weekend proved once again that people can never be too prepared.

Photos and information from across the province and P.E.I. posted to TC Media’s live blog during a 48 hour period during Arthur’s wrath showed which areas were hit the hardest. It also showed the kindness of human spirit, as people helped one another clear yards and streets littered in debris. It highlighted the efforts of Nova Scotia Power crews that were working to restore electricity to more than 100,000 homes at the height of the storm, the hundreds of volunteer and paid firefighters called into service, Department of Transportation staff attempting to keep roads open, police, RCMP, EHS, Red Cross and other emergency organizations repeatedly called into action and the experiences of residents coping with the storm aftermath.

This was a warning folks. A tropical storm is less severe than a hurricane and it is time people made an effort to not only listen to officials but to act on what they say and put a home emergency kit together.
