Victoria Park is a true gem in the middle of town.

I think we can all agree on that. I think most of us can also agree that the park’s intricate trail system can seem a little confusing at times. If that’s the case, I have good news for you. Trail signage is about to be installed.

The Town of Truro’s Planning Department and Parks, Recreation and Culture Department have spent the last year working to develop a signage plan for Victoria Park, with signs delivered last week.

A total of 122 signs have been designed for easy and clear reading as you work your way through the trail system. Directions are included on the signs to provide trail users with navigation, as well as directions to key points of interest, and washrooms and exits. The signs have been designed to not only be easily recognizable, but to also complement the natural surroundings of the park.

Parks, Recreation and Culture Department crews will spend the next few weeks installing the signs throughout the park, starting with the larger entry signs and progressing to the smaller directional signs.

A second phase of signage is planned for the near future that will include interpretive panels, and signage that will provide information about the various points of interest of the park and the history of the park.
