TRURO – Organizers of the Colchester Nova Scotia 55 + Senior Games are hoping several hundred people will participate next month.
All Colchester County and Nova Scotia residents who are 55 and older are encouraged to take part in the first ever Colchester 55 + Senior Games from Sept. 19 to 21. The games are a competitive and non-competitive recreation event that will be held in Colchester County and it’s estimated 250 people have signed up. Organizers would like to see double that number.
Colchester County won a bid to host the games, which are held every two years. Organizers are meeting every two weeks to make plans in anticipation of fun, fitness and friendship. In addition to sports and activities, the three-day event includes entertainment, social events and a banquet.
The games are also a chance to not only do anything from card game 45s to ice hockey but to meet a new best friend or take a trophy back to your hometown.
The deadline to sign up is Sept. 2. For more information, contact Colchester County Recreation Services at 1 Church St. in Truro, call 897-3185, or email email@example.com. The website
