Probation for Truro man who made threatening phone calls
TRURO - Threatening calls to a woman's voicemail, including one stating that the caller was coming with "a temper and a piece of steel" led to a suspended sentence and 12 months probation for a Truro man.
"During the playing of these messages, the tone of Mr. Harvey was quite aggressive," Crown attorney Alison Brown said, during sentencing of Gary Steven Harvey.
Harvey, 27, of 18 Minerva Dr., Apt. 1, was convicted of harassment, which caused his complainant to fear for her safety.
"Don't call that lady," Judge Del Atwood told him. "If it happens again, it's just more grief and you don't want it."
Harvey was ordered to successfully complete counselling for domestic violence, anger management and mental health. He was also placed under a 10-year firearms and weapons ban.

Tatamagouche man told to stay away from alcohol
TRURO - Lay off the booze, a provincial court judge said this week while sentencing a Tatamagouche man for assaulting his former girlfriend.
"You are one of those people that the court must say: no alcohol must touch your lips," Judge Del Atwood told Christopher Calvin Langille.
Court heard that Langille, 19, of 165 Ferguson Rd., got into trouble after he lost his job at a local call centre because he wanted to hang out with his buddies and drink.
Langille showed up at his former girlfriend's residence early last September in a drunken state and became upset when she wouldn't speak with him. He began throwing things around and then wrestled the woman to the ground when she wouldn't sit down to talk.
"Certainly he has seen the error of his ways," Crown Attorney Alison Brown said, in reference to the fact that Langille has not contacted the woman since the incident occurred.
He was ordered to successfully take counseling for alcohol consumption, domestic violence and anger management.
Langille must also pay restitution of $87 to the girl's parents for damage he caused during his outbreak.
