The Truro chapter of People First Nova Scotia hosted a meet and greet on Friday afternoon at the NSCC, Truro campus.

The Freedom Tour Nova Scotia Bike Tour arrived in Truro on Friday. The tour promotes a new film, which raises awareness of the civil rights of people with intellectual disabilities. Brad Rivers, third from left, made the film. Also in photo are members of People First, Truro chapter, Jolene MacKenzie (secretary), Jeannie Whidden (vice-president) and Heather MacKenzie (president).

The event included a showing of the Freedom Tour Nova Scotia documentary, which challenges institutional care for people with intellectual disabilities.

Brad Rivers made the film and is currently biking across the province to bring awareness to the issue and to put pressure on government to close institutions and find more suitable living situations for people with intellectual disabilities.

You go Brad. We need more people like you that are willing to stand up when most won't. Great job.
