Sydney woman killed in Masstown motorcycle crash

MASSTOWN – A Sydney woman is dead following a motorcycle crash at Exit 12 in Masstown off Highway 104 west.

Flowers were placed at the site of a motorcycle crash on Exit 12 at Masstown on Friday afternoon. A 53-year-old woman from Sydney was pronounced dead at the scene.

At about 1:40 p.m., RCMP, Emergency Health Services, Debert Fire Department and Onslow-Belmont Fire Brigade responded to a report of a motorcycle crash involving a lone rider. 

A preliminary investigation determined that the female rider lost control of her vehicle and went over the guardrail. 

The 53-year-old woman from Sydney, who was traveling to Prince Edward Island, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

An RCMP traffic analyst is assisting investigators.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Sgt. Alain LeBlanc said the road was dry and it was overcast at the time of the crash.
