TRURO – A band coming to the Rath Eastlink Community Centre (RECC) next month will be here for a good time.

Trooper is set to rock the RECC on Sept. 13 greeting fans with their repertoire of hits such as We're Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time), Raise a Little Hell, The Boys in the Bright White Sportscar, Two For the Show, Pretty Lady, to name just a few.

“After hosting April Wine last September one thing was obvious to us,” said Jim Lambert, the centre’s general manager, in a news release. “Truro has a deep appreciation for rock music.”

April Wine brought in more than 2,500 people for the RECC’s grand opening celebration that month. “Trooper is one of those truly iconic Canadian Rock Bands, with hits that everyone can sing along to.”

He added, “Since the first concert we’ve revamped the layout and made some improvements that will add to the quality of sound in the arena so we are really excited about this event.”

Trooper's album Hot Shots has been one of the biggest selling albums in Canadian music history. It has gone platinum six times and sells consistently.

Also set to perform at the concert are The Town Heroes, an alternative-rock power duo that sound like a party you wish you were at. They’ve received the 2014 East Coast Music Awards (ECMAs) for Rising Star and Music Video of the Year. They were voted Best Band in The Coast’s 2012 Best of Music poll. They’ve showcased their talent at Canadian Music Week in Toronto, Nova Scotia Music Week, the East Coast Music Awards, and were selected as the Nova Scotia Regional winners for the National Radio Star Song Writing competition. Their latest album Sunday Movies was released last October.

The event is for people aged 19 and up only. Advanced tickets are $29.50 and include all taxes and service charges. Tickets go on sale on Aug. 14 at 9 a.m. and can be purchased at the RECC, online at ticketpro.ca, by calling 1-888-311-9090, or at any ticketpro outlet.

If you purchase your tickets at the RECC front desk anytime from Aug. 14 to 20, you will receive a free full-facility day pass for each ticket you purchase, valued at $12/day, valid until December 30. Call 893-2224 for more information.
