Thane Dunn, an international world champion Elvis tribute artist, and his eight-piece Cadillac Kings, are coming to the Marigold for a performance in December.
Dunn, who has developed a significant following in the Maritimes, will be performing an intimate and interactive Elvis Christmas and gospel show on Dec. 19. Tickets are already on sale.
With a natural resemblance to The King and his uncanny Elvis voice, Dunn creates an illusion on stage that many in Truro have seen before. All of his stage suits are exact replicas of the elaborate jumpsuits popularized by Presley.
Dunn’s newly revamped eight-piece Cadillac Kings consists of three East Coast Music Award winners, the Shai gospel winner of recording of the year, and even a new female soprano singer all the way from England.
The December show will feature Elvis Christmas favourites mixed with his worldwide hits such as ‘Suspicious Minds,’ followed by the gospel works of Elvis like ‘How Great Thou Art’ and ‘Amazing Grace.’
The versatile show intends to capture a piece of what Elvis was like. It was Aug. 16, 1977, when the world got wind that Elvis passed away at his home in Memphis, Tennessee. Many people can remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news. Known as the King of Rock and Roll, Presley changed the face of 20th century pop culture. He left a legacy of music and movies, and millions of people worldwide still have an adoration for him.
For more information or tickets to the performance, stop by the Marigold Cultural Centre on Prince Street in Truro, call the box office at 897-4004, or online at marigoldcentre.ca.
