By The Canadian Press-The number of utility customers still without power in the Maritimes has dwindled to less than 5,500 more than a week after post-tropical storm Arthur hit the region.
NB Power says about 5,500 people are still waiting for their electricity to be turned back on, most of them in the Fredericton area.
Meanwhile, Nova Scotia Power says all but a handful of its customers have been reconnected.
Arthur made landfall in Atlantic Canada on July 5, downing trees and causing power outages across the region.
It knocked out power to more than 250,000 customers in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia at the height of the storm.
