A low pressure system off Florida is forecast to reach Nova Scotia as a tropical storm on Sunday.
The system, which was southeast of Cape Canaveral, Florida, officially became first storm of the season on Tuesday.
The U.S. Hurricane Centre forecasts the system will turn into a weak Category One hurricane, just off North Carolina's Outer Banks by July 4 as it moves along the coast.
Forecasters say the storm could hit Nova Scotia waters as a Category One hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/hr. Those winds are expected to drop to less than 85 km/hr while undergoing extratropical transition.
