Katherine Burris was the top prize winner of the Art in Bloom competition that saw 73 pieces of art entered.

She took hometop spot with ‘Study in Wildflowers,’ which was one of seven pieces the artist completed over March break. Joy Laking’s ‘Wild Roses and Laundry’ placed second in the province-wide competition, with ‘New Life’ by Lorne A. Julien placing third. Honourable mention went to Carolyn Vienneau for ‘Full Bloom.’ The exhibition continues at the McCarthy Gallery at 36 Arthur St., Truro, until June 25. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public has a chance to vote for the People’s Choice Award until the end of the exhibit. The winner will be decided on on June 27.
