Bible Hill Junior High student Hannah Rushton was given the Marie Murdoch Burns Award during the school’s award ceremony on June 12. The award was presented to a graduating student who exemplified qualities of upstanding character and concern for others, who participated in extra-curricular activities in the school and community, and who maintained a satisfactory scholastic standing.

Lauren Smith was named Bible Hill Junior High’s student of the year during the awards ceremony on June 12. The award is presented to a student who has demonstrated exemplary performance in academics, arts and or athletics, while showing leadership, dedication and commitment. The student is the outstanding overall student at the school for the year.

The Charlotte Whidden Memorial Award was presented to Bible Hill Junior High student Madison Murphy during a ceremony on June 12. The award goes to a student in either Grade 8 or 9 who displays empathy and compassion toward others.

Hannah Rushton and Stephen Fitzgerald were named the female and male athletes of the year, respectively, at Bible Hill Junior High for this past year. Coaching staff, in consultation with school administration, select the top male and female athletes based on skill and attitude, as exemplified in two or more school sports.

Bible Hill Junior High School was chosen for an NSSAF Fair Play Award. The recipient is nominated by member schools and chosen within each school board at both the high school and middle school level for their attributes toward the concepts of Fair Play. Gavin Scott and Julia Schmitt were honoured with the Bible Hill Junior High’s sport excellence awards, handed out on June 12. The awards go to one male and one female student who have made a significant contribution to the school’s athletic program.

BIBLE HILL - Bible Hill Junior High School hosted an awards night on June 12 where a number of academic and sports awards were handed out.

Winners for Canadian Scholastic Achievement League

The Canadian Scholastic Achievement League has, for the past fourteen years, provided Grade 8 students with a unique enrichment activity in which students compete against themselves and other Grade 8 students from across the country. Competitors have one hour to answer 100 questions online covering a variety of subjects; General Knowledge (food, sports, music, current events), as well as Language and Literature, Social Studies, Science, and Math. Fifty students from our school were chosen randomly to take part. Those who scored higher than the National average are awarded a certificate noting their accomplishment and the highest scoring student from our school is awarded a medal in recognition of that student being named School Champion.

1st place: Li Yingqi ( Vivian)- 9-1 with an overall score of 124. An above average score is considered to be 93.  Congratulations to Vivian Li, she now will receive a medal from the University of Waterloo.

National Science Fair Award:

This year's  National Science Fair Award is awarded to Harishitaa Prithiviraj. For the second time in as many years, Harishitaa was chosen to represent the Chignecto West Region at the National Science Fair held this year in Windsor, Ontario. This year's project was titled "Is Bigger the Better! Once again, despite moving from the Junior age category to the Intermediate age category and competing against older finalists, the judges recognized Harishitaa's project and awarded her a prestigious Bronze Medal. Congratulations!
