TRURO - A Great Village man who last week led police on a short chase before they decided to give up pursuit for safety reasons, has been sentenced to 90 days in jail.

Truro court news

Justin Harold George, 27, of 339 Station Rd., also had a previous house arrest order collapsed and was ordered to serve the remaining 144 days of that sentence behind bars.

George received the previous conditional sentence order last October after being convicted on a drug possession charge.

His most recent troubles stem from last Wednesday when the RCMP received an anonymous call that George was on his way from Great Village to Truro.

Police subsequently spotted him driving a blue Kia Rio on Robie Street with a large Rottweiller in the back seat.

After a short pursuit, however, police gave up the chase in the name of public safety. George was apprehended the next day in Great Village and charged with operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police and for operating a vehicle while his license was disqualified.
