Truro – Two public meetings to review a draft master plan for Victoria Park will be held June 11 and 18, both at 7 p.m. at the Colchester Legion Stadium.
The meetings are follow-ups to a meeting held late last year to get the public’s input into a comprehensive, long-term master plan for the park. More than 100 people attended that first meeting held at the Truro fire hall.
Since then, consultants with CBCL Ltd. have developed a 100-page report which will be available for public viewing prior to the meeting. The consultants worked with a Victoria Park Management Plan Committee, which is a citizen-based advisory committee appointed by Truro Town Council in 2013 to oversee preparation of the report.
“Victoria Park has long been treasured by Truro and area residents,” says Brian Kinsman, chairman of the Park Management Plan Committee, in a newsrelease. “The final plan will shape how the park is to be managed for years to come.
“To ensure future generations are able to enjoy Victoria Park as we have, it is extremely important that the public come out to the meetings to express views on the plan.”
In advance of the meetings, the report is available online at www.truro.ca/victoria-park-master-plan.html. Hard copies can be viewed at Truro Town Hall; Douglas Street Recreation Centre; and the Truro Branch of the Colchester East Hants Regional Library. Anyone who cannot attend the meetings, may make comment to Truro Parks, Recreation and Culture until July 2, 2014: firstname.lastname@example.org; 902-893-6078.
