Local businessman F. Thomas Stanfield to be honoured

TRURO  - A gala affair here this week will honour a local businessman for his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to Truro and Colchester County.

Allan MacDonald

The Truro and Colchester Chamber of Commerce will recognize F. Thomas Stanfield at its annual gala where he will be presented with the BDC Lifetime Business Achievement Award.

“This recognizes one special person who has made a difference in his lifetime,” said Alan Johnson, chamber executive director. He describes Stanfield as “a gentle business giant,” very thoughtful, accomplished and well spoken.

Stanfield has volunteered with many community groups and has helped countless businesses, charity events and community causes over the decades.  He also served on the boards of a number of manufacturing and business associations.

Along with presenting the honour to Stanfield, the event is an opportunity to thank members for their support.

“Whenever we give a lifetime award, it’s a poignant time for the chamber to look back on our 124 years,” said Johnson.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Allan MacDonald, chief operating officer of Canadian Tire Retail.

The gala dinner will be held May 22 at the Holiday Inn Hotel on Prince Street in Truro. Reception is at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:15 p.m. Today is the final day to reserve tickets. For more information, contact ec@tcchamber or call 895-6328 and ask for Heather or Trish.
