TRURO – The Arthritis Society is bringing a free program on self-management to Truro.

The program will run Tuesday nights in the community room at the Truro library from May 13 to June 17. Each session begins at 5:30 p.m.

“These programs are a wonderful chance to learn about symptom control and creating a better quality of life,” said Erin DeBodt, community education co-ordinator for the Arthritis Society – Nova Scotia Division, in a news release. “The pain caused by arthritis can be severe. Managing that pain is very important to keeping control of your daily life.”

Participants in the program will learn new information and skills, discuss new ideas and share experiences about exercising, managing pain, eating healthy, preventing fatigue, protecting joints, arthritis medications, dealing with stress and depression, working with doctors and healthcare teams, and evaluating alternative treatments.

The sessions are open to the public, however pre-registration is required. Pre-registration can be done in person at the library on Prince Street, by calling 895-4183 or by emailing
