Horses wait patiently as their riders listen to clinician Brad Wagner during a pole-bending clinic on the weekend. On May 10-11 horses will be in the ring to take part in barrel and pole competition and the public is welcome to stop by and enjoy the action.
Brad Wagner, multiple world champion in barrel racing and pole bending, was in Bible Hill to help 16 participants in a pole bending clinic improve their technique and training. Wagner is from Indiana and has been training and winning with horses for more than 40 years. During the 1970s he and his horse Hammer Head won 27 barrel races in a row.
Next weekend the MacMillan Show Centre, on the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition grounds, will be the site of a high-energy Maritime Barrel Racing Association barrel and pole competition.
“There will be 60-70 horses and there is no charge for people to come and watch,’ said MBRA president Chris MacLean. “Horses will be competing from 11 (am) to 5 (pm) each day and visitors are welcome to come and watch the action.”
Spectators can cheer on their favourite horse and rider during this fast paced event.
