County to place waste receptacles at strategic locations

TRURO – A growing amount of garbage left behind by fisherman and other visitors to the West Colchester beaches has prompted the area councillor to request that waste receptacles be placed in strategic areas.

Colchester County Council

“The bass fishermen that has become almost an industry along that shore … some of them leave their garbage around,” Coun. Tom Taggart said in raising the issue at Tuesday night’s Colchester County Council meeting.

Because the obvious mess that results, the issue is also creating friction between the fishermen and area cottagers,” Taggart said.

Council agreed to have staff place six waste receptacles along the shoreline at areas to be determined.
