Man with baseball bat charged after brawl breaks out on Dartmouth street

DARTMOUTH - A man was hospitalized after being hit with a baseball bat during a brawl that broke out on a street here Wednesday night.

Halifax Regional Police say they were called to the area of Trinity Avenue and Nadia Drive around 8 p.m. after getting reports of a number of people fighting.

Police say one person had a baseball bat and officers found a 35-year-old man was assaulted.

He was taken to hospital by paramedics with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they seized the bat at the scene and arrested a 34-year-old man, who is due in Dartmouth provincial court Thursday to face charges of possession of a weapon and assault with a weapon.

The victim and accused were known to one another, police add.
