Mother pleads to obstructing police officer in related case

TRURO - A former Truro man who pled guilty to assaulting and unlawfully confining his girlfriend is to be sentenced June 19.

Court news

Kyle David Ryan Wheaton, 28, of 379 Bedford Highway, Bedford, was also initially charged with kidnapping Patricia Joseph in 2012.

He entered guilty pleas last week in provincial court to charges of confining and assault causing bodily harm to Joseph, public mischief by providing false information to police, and breach of a court undertaking by communicating with the woman after he had been ordered not to.

Wheaton’s mother, Kathy Madelyn Nash, 58, of 21 Thomas Ave., Truro, entered a guilty plea on Tuesday to willfully obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duty, in relation to the case.

Nash is to be sentenced June 19 on that charge.

She had also been facing kidnapping and confining charges regarding Joseph but those charges are to be withdrawn at the time of her sentencing.
