TRURO – The Great Nova Scotia Pick-Me-Up Earth Month Challenge is taking place across the province in April, and Truro Parks, Recreation and Culture is inviting residents to get involved locally.

A community cleanup of Truro parks and green spaces will take place on Saturday, April 26.

The cleanup will begin at 10 a.m. at Douglas Street Recreation Centre. Individuals will be given gloves, bags and potential cleanup sites.

To ensure there are enough supplies, interested participants are asked to contact Cathy von Kintzel at Truro Parks, Recreation and Culture: 893-6094 or cvonkintzel@truro.ca.

“The cleanup will mainly focus on town-owned green spaces,” says von Kintzel, special events and culture co-ordinator for Parks, Recreation and Culture. “But, we also encourage participants to suggest other cleanup sites within the town that are near and dear to them.”

The Great Nova Scotia Pick-Me-Up is a project of Clean Nova Scotia, which for 25 years has provided supplies and support to individuals, groups, business and schools to participate in community-based cleanups. During the month of April, Clean Nova Scotia is challenging all Nova Scotians to register or join in a local cleanup. More provincial information, including a list of community cleanup events, is available on the Clean Nova Scotia website: clean.ns.ca.
