Youth facing porn-related charges requests time to seek legal counsel

TRURO - An Onslow youth facing charges of using a computer/cellphone to obtain child pornography is to return to court May 5 after making an initial appearance on Monday.

The 15-year-old male, whose identity is protected from publication under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, told provincial court Judge Warren Zimmer that he needed more time to consult with a lawyer.

The youth of is facing charges of trying to contact three persons under the age of 16 for the purpose of obtaining child pornography. The charges stem from instances alleged to have taken place between Dec. 1, of last year and March 30.

The teen was arrested April 4 after the Colchester RCMP responded to a call that resulted in cellphones and computer equipment being seized through the execution of a search warrant.
