TRURO – Four Central Nova Tourist Association awards were given out to Colchester County recipients.
The 2013 awards were presented during a ceremony at the Joggins Fossil Centre on Friday and Truro’s Tulips and Thistle Bed and Breakfast picked up the accommodation award.
In the award citations provided to media, the B&B has seen more than 200 guest reviews on TripAdvisor with 96 per cent ranking the bed and breakfast the highest they could.
“The hospitality and quality of both product and service required to achieve such consistent accolades is absolutely outstanding and simply must be commended,” the citation reads.
Of the four per cent that didn’t give the B&B an ‘excellent’ review, none were ranked as anything less than ‘very good.’
When it came to attractions, the Glooscap Heritage Centre and Mi’kmaw Museum in Truro Heights was the award winner.
“In 2013, the centre had its best season ever for attracting bus tours and greeting several motorcoaches on a daily basis throughout the peak season,” reads the citation. “The centre’s signature National Aboriginal Day event was among the best ever and sales in the gift store continue to soar.”
Creston Rudolph, the program director of the former Colchester Regional Development Agency’s Destination Colchester program, was presented with the President’s Award for his work and accomplishments in bringing numerous events to the region, all while ensuring they were successfully co-ordinated and implemented.
The 2013 Food and Beverage Award went to Tatamagouche’s Chowder House.
“This year’s Food and Beverage Award winner has been consistently touted for its exceptional food and service,” said the citation, noting it is ranked the number one restaurant in Tatamagouche on TripAdvisor.
