Man from East Lawrencetown died as result of crash

DARTMOUTH - A Lake Echo woman has pleaded guilty to impaired driving that led to the death of an East Lawrencetown man last summer.

Kyla MacLellan, 21, pleaded guilty to charges of impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm on Monday in Dartmouth provincial court, said Chris Hansen, spokesperson for the public prosecution service.

She will be sentenced on Aug. 27.

MacLellan was driving a Honda Civic when it collided with an SUV near Lawrencetown Beach shortly before 6 a.m. on July 10.

Mark Burnett, 55, was driving the SUV and died shortly afterwards in hospital in Halifax as a result of his injuries.

MacLellan and a female passenger were both ejected from the vehicle and also rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
