TRURO- The Colchester History Society hosted its biannual heritage luncheon on Friday at the Truro Fire Hall to raise funds for the local museum.

Society volunteers served a hot meal to a crowd of about 100 hungry guests to raise money for the Colchester Historeum’s general operations.

Tickets were sold for $12, and Jordan LeBlanc, curator at the Historeum, estimated $1,100 was raised.

The meal served consisted of sausage, fishcakes, beans, hash browns, chicken soup and a gingercake for dessert.

LeBlanc, who has only been with the Historeum for a year, said he knows how important the lunch is for the community to keep the history alive.

The lunch is held in the spring and fall and is the Historeum’s biggest fundraising event.

“It’s our best opportunity to engage our fans and supporters,” LeBlanc said. “People look forward to it every year.”

The funds raised go towards the Historeum’s general operations.

“The money raised keeps our lights on and our programs running.”
