TRURO – It’s not too late to embrace Adult Learners Week.
The international initiative focuses on all types of adult learning opportunities. Matt Taylor, executive director of the Colchester Adult Learning Association (CALA) in Truro, said Adult Learners Week is broader than most people realize.
“It’s about all types of adult learning … everything from post graduate studies to anything that involves learning such as family and shared learning, teaching
yourself from the Internet, guitar lessons or painting,” Taylor told the Truro Daily News.
“For CALA, one of the highlights of Adult Learners Week is the opportunity to look outside our own walls … all these types of learning contribute to the principles of wellness associated with lifelong learning,” he said. “It is about overall wellness in a community. Education is a determinant of health … learning communities are healthier, more innovative, and more attractive.”
The specialized week wraps up this Sunday and there are a variety of events taking place throughout the province to celebrate the effort.
